I'm an inveterate bargain shopper. Sometimes when I spot something that one of my family could use and it is such a great bargain that I can't pass it up, I will get it and give it to them when I next see them.
So at the end of winter, it happened that I spotted some long underwear on closeout. Knowing that my younger son wears it because he is an a/c repairman and of course his work in the winter is in the cold, whether inside or out, I picked up a couple of pieces for him. As it happened, one piece was solid and one was camouflage (of course camouflage is "in" even in longjohns). So I held onto them until I saw him again which was this week when he drove 95 miles to bring me flowers and take me out to eat for my birthday. (Yeah, I know, he's a sweetie).
Anyway, I gave them to him and he called me the next morning to tell me that when he got home he told his wife I had bought him some camouflage long underwear. At first she said nothing, but just looked at him, rather strangely.
Later she asked him if I had bought some for his older brother, too. He said he didn't think so. She was now looking at him with a VERY strange expression on her face. Eventually, she asked him if she could see this "thong underwear" I had bought him. She said she nearly died when she found out it was "long" underwear my son had said.
What a difference one little word makes! Thank goodness her curiosity got the better of her and she asked to see it.
I burst into laughter every time I think about it.
