Getting Over My Hesitance
Thursday, July 25, 2013
Something I’ve talked about a few times here, but have never actually gotten up the courage to do, is getting professionally fitted for a bra. A lot of my hesitance comes from social conditioning in which talking about undergarments isn’t exactly the most normally accepted conversation. But after a disastrous bra shopping session last week, I decided it was time.
So, even though I had a disastrous day, and dealt with my new least favorite customer service (my new student loan servicer), I decided to still go with my plan of going to a local lingerie shop to see if they do bra fittings. So I took a deep breath, opened the door of the store, and walked in.
I asked the woman at the register when I first walked in if they do bra fittings, and she said yes and told me to go to the back. Then I went to the back, and they found me a wonderful sales person to help. First she asked me what I was looking for, what size I currently wore, etc. Then she went out to get me some samples to try. The first two were too small. So then she went out and got me more in a bigger size. When we finally found the right size, she gave me a few different bras to try our before we settled on one I like. It was an easy, painfree experience – and she said I was a good customer and I was nicer than a lot of people they get in there!
End of story, I went up 1 band size and 2 cup sizes. And I now have a supremely comfortable bra.
So, good move, Sarah!
