List YOUR reasons/excuses on why YOUR diets and exercise plans have not been well executed in the past. OK that might be too long a list, so give 3 or 4 reasons and for each write a strategy that will keep you on track for 8 weeks.

1. The biggest reason why MY diet plan has not worked well in the past is that I want what works for everyone else to work for me! I want to be able to just cut calories, log calories, and follow the “calories in, calories out” idea and lose weight. I have to figure out what works for me! I have to stop looking for ways to cut calories, but rather ways to eat healthfully enough to get enough calories and good food!
2. I have tried so hard to cut calories that I fear eating anything, thinking that it might be the wrong combination of food, might be too many carbs, or too many proteins…etc. I let that fear get in the way of planning a good menu, then meals tend to be more spontaneous rather than a well thought out plan.
My Strategy for overcoming these fears and not getting enough healthy calories is to follow the Zone Diet. A doctor friend recommended this to me several years ago, and in looking over past history, it was during the time I followed this plan that I was most successful in weight loss. So, I just received 3 Zone Cookbooks in the mail today. Before returning home, I will write out at least one week’s worth of menus, have the shopping list ready, get the food and follow the plan. I will not be tempted to compare it to other plans, or to eliminate foods just because another plan doesn’t allow them. I will, however, substitute foods that I can get or homemade less processed foods than the plan calls for.

    What a great plan - it's hard to stop comparing to what other people are doing and how much they're losing etc. I wonder sometimes if maybe it's just a way of distracting myself (laziness kicking in). I hope you get in the Zone with your new plan!
