I Eyed the Pie

Thursday, July 25, 2013

My husband always grocery shops with me "in self defense", he says. It's because I don't buy junk food!

He bought a cherry pie today (and ice cream and Pringles, but that's another story). We got home later than planned and I was Hungry!

I eyed the pie.

And eyed it.

Then I ate my lunch of veggies, yogurt, and fruit and left the kitchen. TC will cut the pie into pieces and freeze them for his later enjoyment. By the time I am done blogging it will be out of site. My next move is to get on the treadmill. Now that I've blogged about eyeing the pie, I know I won't eat it.

Besides, it's only 5 hours until my next meal, and I am already looking forward to it: Laura's 92% lean hamburger with lettuce and locally-grown tomato, fresh corn on the cob picked yesterday by my 92-year-old neighbor, and fresh halved, roasted brussel sprouts.

Spark on!!!

I made a crustless cranberry pie for my husband yesterday! I did the same thing...I eyed it, took pride in my creation, and realized that "Once on the lips, forever on the hips" is so very true. My husband fortunately put it our second frig in the garage because our frig is full of healthy food prepared by me. The man has to indulge; I have to accept this and make making healthier choices.

I enjoyed your blog because it is a challenge living with someone who doesn't eat the same way as I do, and sadly, who continues to drink. However, I am able to SPARK making healthy choices each and every day thanks to sobriety. emoticon

Well done!! I might have felt like hurling a pie in the eye (of the person who bought it). Your way is better!!

Awesome!!!! It's so hard! My SO has about 3 different bags of chips at all times in the house, and every time we shop for groceries he's looking through the bakery :/ I guess it makes us strong emoticon emoticon

Something else we have in common. I live with the "junk food king of the world."
I love that quote. If I could have outrun my fork, I never would have gained weight. I love to run, unfortunately I also loved to eat - LOTS.

I solve the ice cream problem by getting the kind I do not like. Pringles, really? Yikes!
You did really well with avoiding the pie. Besides I have oft found disappointment after eating it... desire's expectation are usually let down when we consume what we desire. But somehow that is not true of fresh fruits and veggies... ah the nectar of the garden! You chose wisely grasshopper!

Great job and well done. It really does take will power and the right mind set. I know that hungry, gotta have something now feeling...and you took charge.

Love the picture and phrase as well.
