I am beyond excited that I have been able to lose 6 pounds in 10 days! Last night I decided to try on some shorts that have been too tight to wear this summer and 2 pair are almost comfortable and one pair I was able to button and zip and I could still breathe-LOL! So, I knew I'd lost some weight in my hips but never expected to lose more than 5 pounds. Eating whole foods has made an enormous difference. I eat a few processed foods here and there, but not much. The worst thing I've eaten in the last 10 days is the icing off the top of a cupcake from a real bakery (it was a gift from a company for closing on a loan and it was dreamsicle flavored). So, I haven't been counting calories, just being selective about what I eat...lots of salads, melons and other fruits, eggs and other lean protein, and my favorite dish that I've been eating in the last week and a half is cherry tomatoes, fresh corn off the cob and basil sauteed with a little butter and olive oil. It is to die for
If I had that for "my last meal" I would be happy! My husband brought home a free bushel of sweet potatoes that we've been eating for the past 2 weeks, too, but I need to freeze the rest, so some will be grilled then frozen and some I will cut into fries and put in bags. He said he wanted a sweet potato pie and I said NO WAY!!! I'd want to eat the whole thing. We've had a box of Twinkies in the house for the last week and I am so proud of myself for not eating any. My youngest son loves them so they 'belong' to him and that's fine with me. Fruit is better anyway. Can't wait to get a watermelon this weekend. The ones in our garden aren't beg enough yet. So glad we have a garden and for those things we don't/can't grow, we have a produce stand right around the corner and their prices are super cheap and it is high quality stuff. We are very blessed to have that kind of access.
I have been working out regularly but due to some female issues I haven't been able to get my 12 miler in this past week so on Saturday I'll go for 14 miles. Lower temps and humidity should make it doable. Can't believe how wonderful it feels outside this morning. Is this really summer? Might just have to get a short outdoor run in this evening when DH gets home. Just have to remember to wear sunglasses or safety glasses. There is a lot of logging trucks running up and down our road and the last outdoor run I had I kept on getting sawdust in my eyes because of it. Very unpleasant. Thank goodness I never look for a perfect run because I have yet to experience one. A good enough run makes me happy :o) I'll report back in 10 more days. Enjoy the rest of your July!
