I Figured Something Out This Morning

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Whoa. I had one great walk this morning.
Started out at 5:15. Wore my new shoes. Felt good.

Depending on my route, about 2 miles from the start of my walks I can be on campus at a small, private, liberal arts college. This summer as a favor to a friend, I have been stopping in and checking freezers. (Two summers ago one of her freezers went out, and the cafe being closed for the summer, no one noticed until it was too late. Really, really too late.) Since it's so close, I volunteered to stop by 4-5 times a week and check to make sure everything's running. 6 freezers, - 1 walk-in style, one commercial ice machine, 7 refrigeration units. Doesn't take long, all I have to do is open doors and poke things. But.

I'm ok with the first 4 freezers, frozen raw muffins, raw cookies, breads and vegetables don't really tempt me. But freezer # 5? Homemade pumpkin Whoopie Pies - individually wrapped - filled with homemade maple walnut ice cream. I open the freezer and there they are, sitting right at eye level. Been doing well this summer, have only given in once. And it was swoon-able good.

Today I resisted again.
I'm so proud.
I slugged down 8 oz of water, and moved the whoopie pies behind some edamame and sun dried tomatoes, where they'll be safe. I don't know why it took me so long to think of that move.

Oh My! How awful to face temptation in the middle of your walk. Well done for resisting! If it was me, the friend would have none left by the time she opened up again!

Hey, you are doing well so one or two slip ups can't be so bad! I worked in a place once and I came in one morning and my freezer had died over Thanksgiving. It smelled pretty bad. I think when I don't plan my food out I feel like I get out of control but planning food I am more in control and do much better. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Great going on the exercise, too. You started the day out right and kept your momentum going.

emoticon on resisting those whoopie pies! I love pumpkin everything....I'm sure I would have been powerless. Getting through a tough day always makes one feel empowered. You go, Spark Friend! emoticon

I worked at a university, too, before I took an early retirement. I almost always went into work 1-2 hours before the rest of the staff came in. I always got a lot done, too, during that short period of time. Did the same at the end of the day and it helped me to unwind before I went home for the day. If you are guessing I must be an introvert, you are spot on.

And thanks so much for visiting my spark page and offering some encouragement.
My DH insisted on doing all of the lifting with grand daughter today....I took your advice seriously. Hopefully I will continue to progress, but momma, it is going so slowly....still progress is hope, so I'm not complaining.

    Have a terrific night.
