Day 115 - Recalculating My Dietary Needs

I have decided to delete everything in my favorite foods list and create my own by manually entering the foods I eat in full details. I have been on this task for at least 5 hours now!

I want to track my cholesterol and sodium levels. I am also tracking my potassium, fiber, protein, and magnesium levels on top of the calories, carbs, fats, and proteins.

I can never get enough proteins and fiber...so my thinking is that the foods I search for may not be fully filled out on the nutritional label, thus entering it manually on my end.

I went through most all the foods I have in my home that I will eat and also found nutritional values for many fruits and vegetables, which I also inputted into my favorite food list.

My goal is to lower my bad cholesterol, raise my good cholesterol, and limit my salt intake. Fiber is the catalyst to help eliminate the bad cholesterol...which I always seem to fall short.

I have an appt with the cardiologist next Monday. Today, I walked a mile with my husband. We walked moderately slow but half way home, it felt like we were walking fast. I was also yawning a lot, as if I just could not get enough oxygen in my body, weird.

Today I worked 8 hours and tomorrow I work 13 hours. I am a little bummed out that my supervisor could not find 1 hour coverage so I can attend my group LCSW meeting. Grrrr...but I don't think she even tried.

Yesterday I was formulating my heart heathy plan and my son wanted to go to this restaurant for his birthday, which is Cabo77. Hibachi food? It serves sushi, seafood, chicken, steaks, etc. So I am thinking, okay, this should be healthy... Oh, a chef prepares the food in front of us at the table. I ordered the lobster and chicken... The chef used a lot of oils and butter. He also put a huge chunk of garlic breading on my lobster. The rice, he added eggs and a lot of sodium sauce. He also ladled egg yokes on the stove and put that on our plates. Talk about high cholesterol! The chicken was going well...then he added more sodium laced favors to it. Sigh...even the veggies had a lot of oils on it. He created a huge fire from the onions, which was cool! The only healthy thing I ate was pineapple chunks. I had left overs, so I had my husband eat that today...I kept thinking all night long that I was going to die of a massive sodium / high cholesterol heart attack. But I am still here...and incredibly thirsty this morning! Gee, I wonder why... My kids loved that place, but for me, it was just okay. Probably because I am now seeing foods in a different light...

    I think you are definitely on the right track by really tracking those favorites and working on getting more fiber and less sodium....

Before you know it your good cholesterol will be high and the bad one low...
