I gave in and bought a date square. I guess I think that even though this treat has lots of sugar and butter/fat in it, the dates provide (more sugar and) just a little bit of fiber...
I had my oatmeal (with unsweetened almond milk and apple) for breakfast and a nonfat latte.
Lunch was a bowl of carrot ginger soup and a cup of my Mediterranean quinoa salad.
Not long after that I ate my nonfat greek yogurt.
And then I went running errands and returned to the office with a date square.
Why did I buy it? I wasn't particularly hungry I just wanted something sweet. If I'd had no reason to leave the office, I probably wouldn't have bought it. I ate it over the period of about half an hour and thoroughly enjoyed it... and then my craving subsided. A few hours later (kind of an early dinner before going to zumba) I ate the garlic hummus, red peppers, and broccoli I had brought for a snack. I was prepared... but still gave in.
I guess the good part of this is that it was just a single date square that I bought, so I couldn't keep sneaking more and more of it... and I went to zumba.
Tomorrow my breakfast and lunch are packed... but I haven't packed any snacks because I really don't have any. It's possible I should have gone grocery shopping instead of to zumba tonight. I may have another nonfat latte tomorrow, those tend to help me in the morning. As for the afternoon... I do have some apples in this house, I can bring those and a few tea bags. After work I was hoping to go to yoga but I am also supposed to meet some girlfriends to catch up with them... I know this means wine and I meant to bring a healthy snack but haven't had time so I'll have to find something tomorrow downtown. I'm sure I can find a veggie, cheese, and hummus tray or something like that somewhere.
Sugar monsters, I'm ready for you tomorrow! But first, time to rest!
