Over six miles

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

There is a hill from one town to the next that is 4 miles. This morning I walked, ran and sprinted my way to the top and back down. It was a total of over 6.5 miles. My IT band felt better after I sprinted than when I walked/ran. Crazy! emoticon

I needed this morning for reflection. Two years ago today, my horse of over 30 years passed on to the bridge. (I had her since she was a baby and she was 31 when she died.) I had just got back from vacation and everyone said she was waiting for me. The vets can't confirm, but we think her spleen burst. Her last breaths were as if she was running to the bridge. I really miss her! She was my soul mate and a once-in-a-lifetime horse. I took time during my climb to remember.

It's been a good day.

I am sorry about your loss. We love our animals. I am glad you had 31 years together!

It sounded like a great run.

Oh, so sorry for your loss. you must of been a teenager when you got her.

On a separate note, glad to hear your back to your running self. However, now I'm envious, because I am down for the count. Hurt my back last Friday. Getting better, but I haven't exercised since then. Feels like forever.

btw, you are such a skinny minny in that profile pic. amazing.

It's amazing how our bodies are built to move and r4eact well to that movement. I know so many people who experience comfort from injury in their run. Stay strong and be careful.

in the same thought, I can fully understand your relationship with your "baby." My sister and I both lost our horses years ago overseas. Embrace those wonderful times..

I'm sorry to hear about your horse. After 31 years together, she was definitely part of the family. I am super proud of you attacking that hill. What hill is it? May I also ask what an IT band is?

6 miles on a hill??? Impressive. We dont often think about horses as companion animals, but they are. Glad to hear the happy memories.

Hugs for your equine's Jahrzeit. I sometimes think we connect more closely, more emotionally directly, that is, with our animal friends than with humans... where we complicate the relationships with words and expectations.

Glad you took the time to breathe, run, AND remember!

Glad you are having a good day. emoticon
Sorry you have to reflect back on a lost friend, but happy you had a friend like that to remember. Hope you remember all the good stuff. emoticon
Nice on the IT Band. Don't forget to RICE everything around it. If it feels better when it is worked, that means it's ready. The trick now is to bring everything up together in balance. emoticon

Now, no more breaking yourself!! We have a race to do. emoticon , emoticon , emoticon I'll let you pick.
