Weigh Day

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

So 7 days of the Juice diet and time to see what we had lost.

Husband lost 2 pounds so know weighs 308 pounds
I lost 1 pound and I weigh 162 pounds

It is a loss but not what had hoped for. Seven days of Juice and NO Cheating resulted in a small loss.
It cost us a lot more to buy in the fruit and vegetables for juicing than if I had bought in salad stuff and other foods, plus buying the juicing machine.
We are not impressed as we had hoped for at least a 4 pound loss, all I can say it was worth the effort to get DH back into wanting to get healthy. However he was not happy with only a loss of 2 pounds and said as much.

I have persuaded my husband to carry on and use the juice as a means to keep the sweet cravings at bay and to eat a healthy diet with more vegetables and salads.
I have also said that I would watch the portion sizes and with his help we can work on the meal plans together.
All in all not a total disaster and it has helped get DH back into the weight loss and healthy eating mode again.

Would I do a Juice diet again?
No, but I would say this, having fresh Juice as part of the diet will be part the diet as it helps keep the craving for something sweet at bay.

Good for you for giving it a serious try--& yes, some loss is better than none, definitely! Your commitment will serve you well in the upcoming 5% challenge.

(Whole fruits & veggies are better for us than juice anyway. But if juice is the best way to sneak in those nutrients, it's very useful.)

Sometimes it takes more than a week for the loss to register. Any desire for better health is worth the effort!

I think that's a good compromise. The juice, as a snack, should work better and keep you both more satisfied than trying to use it as the entire diet. It's definitely more healthy!

You've both had a loss which is good. Not what you wanted but you may well find that you get a better result the second week.
I know cost is an issue. I'm filling a lot of our meals out at the moment with cold meats or fish, salad and new potatoes. Fruit with some low fat natural yoghurt is a good start to the day too. With a few juice drinks in between, you might find a happy medium.
I hope you can keep DH interest and that you have a good week.

Congratulations for sticking to it for an entire week. Well done. The weight loss may not have been as much as you'd hoped for but you also gave your body a break from processed foods and salt. When I came off my last juice fast I found everything tasted salty to me. Plus I got some relief from some long standing sinus problems. Did you notice any other health benefits?

I do have a fresh juice everyday but for nourishing purposes. It has really helped me with my sweetheart tooth ;)
