Gained a little . . .

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

again. My upward trend continues. I've gained .4 lbs. and 2.6 lbs. in the past 6 weeks. As I mentioned last weigh in, I know that's not much and I'm still maintaining and within my 3% challenge (.4 above my goal weight) but I don't want to get back into my old habits and find myself having to loose over 10 lbs. again!

I watched Extreme Makeover last night, and while that woman's experience was a little "extreme", I did see some similarities in her situation and mine (and I'm sure a lot of working Mom's). She didn't make the time to take care of herself and had a lot of excuses for what she was eating and not working out. (SPOILER ALERT).

I couldn't believe she managed to put back on 32 lbs. in a month. Again, an "extreme" example, but she went back to all her bad habits and she continued to make excuses (I loved the one that maybe the 32 lbs. was because she drank a lot of water before weigh in or maybe she wasn't eating enough).

One thing she was challenged with is a very toxic relationship with her Mom. That lady was horrible. Now I know they have to show the drama, but she was just awful! However, a lot of us are exposed to bad influences in our journey, we just have to find a way to deal with it.

Anyway, that episode kind of "hit home" since I'm experiencing some challenges and am gaining weight.

However, I know I have things "under control" (as I hope that lady last night still does). I'm participating in the 3% Maintenance Challenge here on Spark and a "Healthy Living" challenge with DH's work.

I blogged on Monday about the busy schedule we had while in Florida over the weekend and all the driving! Both DH and I agreed that if we hadn't been doing the challenge, there is no way we would have taken time to get in our 30 mins. of exercise a day. Friday night we were walking around a hotel parking lot & strip mall and Saturday night around a college campus (at 10:00 at night).

So things are good. On Monday, DD#2, my sister and I were in the car ready to go to the park to walk (with Great Nephew in tow). We were getting ready to pull out of the driveway and it started to thunder. Within 2 mins. we had torrential rain (just heard yesterday that this is the wettest year so far in the Southeast). My sister dropped us off and headed home. DD#2 and I were going to go to the indoor gym and walk, but she really didn't want to, so I dusted off the Coach Nicole DVD and did that workout (it was hard!).

Yesterday I went to the aquatic center and again climbed the steps to the waterslide and swam in the "lazy river". I also went into the indoor pool and swam a couple of laps.

I really want to run today since it's been over a week since my last run. If it's raining again when I get home, I'll go to the indoor gym.

I'm actually off work tomorrow - through Monday, but I have a volleyball tournament Thur - Sat. (DD#2 was asked to play "up" again, so she will be playing with both Varsity & JV - so that means more games), a wedding shower on Saturday and a college tour on Monday with DD#1.

So I will be busy and "challenged", but I'm determined! I'm still 2 lbs. below my "scream weight" (thanks 4A-Healthy-BMI for that term), but it needs to stop now!

Great blog! You are being honest with yourself and that's a huge step, in my opinion. Moms do get caught up taking care of everyone else, but we need to take time for us. I sometimes even get razed about my exercise and healthy eating, but that's their issue not mine.

My issue is maintaining all I've worked so hard to achieve. Have I gained weight back, yes. At one time I gained 10 lbs. back...I needed to gain about 3 to 5 back, not double that amount! I have since lost it and have maintained for over 2 years.

Keep at it! You are worth the effort and I know emoticon
