Yesterday I met up with a friend I hadn't talked to in a while. We made plans to meet at her home down in the village this morning and walk together. She has a pretty stressful desk job, and hasn't been getting any kind of exercise lately, so we agreed we'd take it slow.
I like to walk fast, and I prefer hills and rough ground, which I knew I wouldn't find in the village. Oh it's not flat, but it's not what I would call "hilly". In order to satisfy myself that I had gotten enough of a walk in, I needed to add on. Simple enough.
My friend lives just over 3 miles down hill from me, so I walked to her house from mine. We had an enjoyable hour long "village tour". Then I walked back home. 9.6 miles total.
I hope that she enjoyed herself enough that she'll be up to repeating this morning. I normally walk by myself, and honestly I wasn't sure that I would enjoy it as much as I did. Perhaps I'm not the recluse that I think I am.
