We have an apartment!!!!

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Well it's been a long time coming but for those of you who don't already know my daughter has finally found a place to live in Boston so she can start school in the fall at MassArt. emoticon .She will be living in Brookline in an old Victorian style house on the second floor with three other transfer students going to the same college. It is in a very beautiful residential area, a very safe area, and a very walkable area to the the bus and the T. I am feeling much less anxious. Now I can begin to think about how we are going to get all of her stuff there since the apartment is unfurnished. emoticon
Thank you go all of my wonderful spark friends and some who became friends along the way who offered advice and encouragement and offered so many suggestions. I have been stronger because of you. I have learned so much along the way. In my floundering blog I was so unsure of myself and of my abilities. I'ts amazing how much you learn when you are "thrown into the fire" It's empowering to know that if you set your mind to something you find strength in the process and your own ability to want to succeed. And to that end you just keep doing what you have to do to get the result you desire. So I learned the process of apartment hunting in a big city, I learned all about applications, guarantor forms, realtor fees, etc and I'm sure I still have more to learn. But doesn't this all sound very familiar?
Our spark journey is one of discovery and and strength in our desire to succeed. At times we do flounder because we are either unsure or "lost" or discouraged, but we keep going because we know what we want to achieve and once we start to see results for our efforts we are empowered to be that person we really want to be.
I felt somewhat "stupid" that I was so unfamiliar with the apartment hunting process. I felt at my age that that was something I should know, However, it just goes to prove that we are never to old to try something new. We are never too old to want to change to do something to make us better people. We are never too old to educate ourselves, to learn, emoticon to grow, to be better than we ever were. Spark can help us be that person and we should never, never stop trying to be the best possible "me" that we can be!!

emoticon blog. It's true with each and every step that we take in our daily life's we learn more about ourselves. It's never to late to learn something. I find I learn something new everyday.

When Johnny died I sold most of the things we had, for I need a fresh start. So when I got back to Ohio I needed everything. All I can say is it's shopping time. emoticon I hit thrift stores and garage sales, a few estate sales and even an auction. WOW my house looks emoticon That would be my suggestion. You can get some really nice things at great prices. So excited for both you .May and your daughter have another great experience with this chapter of your life's.. This is going to be so much fun for both of you! emoticon .

Yay!!! You rose to the occasion. We all knew you could. I think each of us has more inside of us than we realize in terms of what we are capable of. Again, YAY for YOU!

Wonderful blog post! It is so encouraging to find there is so much we can so that we didn't know we could, or even wanted to, for that matter. You are right, I know I have been moved out of my comfort zone with spark, but it has been a positive experience and I'm glad I am making a new me. Congratulations on the apartment find!!!!

I'm thrilled for you and your daughter that this situation has worked out and that she has found a safe, comfortable home away from home.

Oh my dear... we have all the tools we'll ever need inside us and oftentimes we aren't aware of this until we are "thrown into the fire" and have to draw on our own deep reserves.

... " It's empowering to know that if you set your mind to something you find strength in the process and your own ability to want to succeed. And to that end you just keep doing what you have to do to get the result you desire."...

Yes, yes, yes to your profound statement!

There's nothing wrong with not knowing how to do something or being unaware of how something works if we've never had to deal with it... (you don't know something until you have to deal with it or ignorance is bliss)!

The more you know.

Great blog, I like your tie-in thoughts about learning new things. You really shouldn't feel bad about the things you don't know though. The only way anyone learns anything is either by experience (which you hadn't had) or by obtaining the knowledge from others, which you were able to do. Not everyone is able to say, "I don't know how to do this, please help me." It's great that you have the ability to do that. I'm really happy you finally found such a great place, it will be much easier for you knowing your daughter is in a safe area. Have fun shopping. Another possibly new experience you might consider are thrift stores or consignment shops, most kids don't care if everything is brand new in their first apartment, they're just happy to have the opportunity to be there at all.
