Trying hard to relax

Actually, I find that I'm not 'under' stress anymore. But I spent most of my life stressed out. Now that I've retired I don't have to deal with those horrible deadlines, or nasty boss or co-workers, etc., but I find I'm still carrying stress.

Maybe I'm stressing over the lack of stress ? ? ? ?


I've been trying out different types of relaxation techniques and meditation methods. It's really hard to quiet my mind from all the clutter and bombarding thoughts.

Just as much a part of getting healthy is the healing my soul and learning to be good to myself. . . . cos I've put on a lot of miles and have been pretty hard on myself for a lotta years.


I have a lot to learn, but I am feeling really good about where I'm going.

    Stress is sometimes tricky to manage and unfortunately has the exact opposite affect of holding onto weight instead of letting go.

    Having too much on my mental plate only adds to the clutter in my head. When that happens I have to take a step back, take a look around, prioritize, and then take only one step forward at a time.

When I really stress out, I get mad it all, let go of everything, and go do something fun or something special for myself, or something I really like to do. Then when I face the world again, so to speak, I don't feel so stressed any more and the world doesn't look so bad to me.

    Like anything else -- it's all about building on healthy habits. The more you practise meditation or any relaxation technique -- the better and easier it gets!

    Stress has been a constant visitor in my life for the past few years...but I am hoping some major changes I am planning in the future will help to reduce that stress.

Try deep breathing - it helps.

    Stress reactions are a habit that can be broken. It takes as long as losing weight, though.

    It's terrible that we have to work so hard to relax. I have a very hard time shutting my mind off and I too feel like my guardian angel has that look!
