What's round on both ends and high in the middle?

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

I remember this joke as a child. Never thought I would be living here though. Welcome to Ohio! I may have mentioned this before, but my HH lost his job in November and found the next one out of state. So.....here we both are...FINALLY! It has been a long road to get here. In the last 3 months, I have been preparing to say goodbye to the home I have lived in for the past 26 years, preparing to move to a new state, preparing my daughter to take over the care of our NY house and preparing my heart for the loss of a good friend's son to a car accident and a mother-in-law who was more mother than in-law. Lots more has also happened that has been tragic in our family, but cannot be mentioned here.
In the process, I have found a cozy apartment, a wonderful job with some wonderful coworkers, a tiny, friendly community church close by and a new life with my husband of 33 years. I have a also joined up with a local branch of the gym I had been attending and am hard at work trying to deal with my health challenges and weight issues. I have lost 25 pounds since coming here and feel like a new person. I can climb the steps to our second floor apartment with the groceries without puffing and my BP has dropped. I have more energy. Just think what life will be like once I lose the other 120 pounds that will bring me to a healthy weight range for the first time in 26 years emoticon

Despite your sorrows, you are able to recognize the good things in your life. I am sorry about the tragic events. My dear friend lost her only son in a car wreck, and I know the pain I felt for her. I commend you for losing weight, and I wish you continued progress. Each day I am glad that I found Sparkpeople to help me live a healthy life. There are so many benefits, especially the empathy that is extended by the wonderful people who are members here.
