our adventure yesterday took us inland. In Port Alberni we explored the quay and the maritime museum
It fascinates me that debris from the tsunami in Japan has been located here. The local artisans also are amazing working in everything from stone and textiles to carvings and stained glass


our drive took us through old growth forest. you know the trees are big when there is interference with satellite radio reception. We got out and walked the loop in Cathedral Grove- some of the oldest trees on the island (800 + years)


you have to use your imagination and let your eye follow up from the bottom of this picture to the top of the one above - it is the same tree all the way up

this tree trunk might not look like much- but we measured the circumference at 29 feet

Cameron Lake, another tranquil spot I will be able to revisit in pictures when life gets hectic

Little Quallicum Falls; a spot to visualize the power of the water and harness that energy as I move forward in my day
