This morning, I woke up to a message from a college friend. It was in regards to my Headed Healthy blog, which he stumbled upon yesterday.
He was shocked to hear about my struggles with food and body image during the school year, and had no idea how deeply it all affected me.
He mentioned how much he likes me as a person, and how he did from the moment we first met. He wished he could have helped me more. Then he spoke to the fact that he knew about the mild crush I entertained throughout the year, stated that he was sorry nothing was able to develop given the time constraints, and ended with a wonderful line:
"You're incredibly beautiful, and that's the least interesting thing about you."
This message was so unexpected, and yet exactly what I needed.
It is a reminder that I don't have to settle for people who don't appreciate me, or make everyone like me. It is a testament to my personality. And it is a sign that I do have the strength to continue pushing forward in my life - be it in weight loss, healthy living, school, work...anything and everything.
I am worth more than a few opinions. I have inner and outer beauty. I am valuable. I am strong.
And so are you.
"You're incredibly beautiful, and that's the least interesting thing about you." :)
