Oh Gosh!!!!! My abs need to be stronger!!!!

I stopped doing Cassey Ho's workouts ( blogilates.com ) for quite some time (between a few months to a year) because of my osteoporosis. The moves just hurt too much but now I'm recovering after the parathyroid (pt) surgery.

My pt glands had to be removed bcoz they were getting overactive and leeching calcium from my bones, which is why they hurt, especially when I'm doing mat pilates.

Currently, while I can do most of my DVD workouts, I still can't do some of Cassey's exercises! Some of her moves are super hard if you don't have strong abs. I used to have strong abs but after all that bone problems, I'm now trying to work up to my former level of ab fitness!

I was just so surprised today that moves that I could do before, I now have difficulty doing! I'm so frustrated but I know that it won't happen overnight. I just have to work up to it but I guess I'm just impatient! Arrrghhh!!!!

    You just have to restart slowly, don't force yourself, getting lots of pain and might get sick again not worth it!

    You are right, it will not happy overnight but you can do it. Remember the saying "A year from now, you will wish you had started today."

A year or so ago, I started doing planks every night before bed. At first on my knees for a few seconds, then worked up to getting up on my toes, then worked at holding it for one minute. Now I am working on holding it for two minutes.

It's tough, not sure with your recovery how much you should do now but keep it in mind.

    It is amazing what the body can do if you keep at it. However some times we just have to accept what the body has determined it will not do. So you find away around it,
Frustration -
-- just think this gives you a glimpse into the future when age takes away from you all the things we "young" ones take for granted.

- in the mean time do what you can - live your life the best you can.
