Four Inches

Monday, July 22, 2013

No, it's not a punch line. My employer does annual "metabolic testing" which is a rather quick procedure--they get your blood pressure, weight, height, and cholesterol and measure your waist---which as we know is a "dangerous" place to have inches.

My waist is still not great but it is 4 inches less than it was 11 months ago. And for perhaps the first time in some 25 years my waist has fewer inches than my hips!

I have been a perfect oblong or rectangle with bust, waist, and hips all at the same unflattering number. They are now three different numbers! Could this be the beginning of a figure?

My employer takes these measurements which are not mandatory but which take $15.00 for an individual or $30.00 for a family off the monthly health insurance payment. I know it is a big Big Brother but you would get the $30.00 off per month even if you had an 80 inch waist. Of course they raise the rates so often, that one can smell many many rats!

That is an amazing accomplishment!! 4 inches from the waist and the start of a figure is definitely something to celebrate.

I'm with Libby - this is VERY good news given the heart/health issues associated with a large waist! Four inches in 11 months is SO awesome!! What is even better is that you are losing weight the healthy way - slow and steady with an emphasis on whole foods and exercise!! You ROCK!! emoticon

as an afterthought, why does your employer take these highly personal statistics of you? is that his business?

i'm just getting really hyper about authorities butting in on private personal information. big brother, you know.

There is a good chance that you soon will have to cross the street when you see construction workers. Oh my! That is so lovely though because it means you are seeing a wonderful change.

emoticon It won't be long before you're strutting in a sundress on a beach, twirling an cute little hat and crooking a finger to call a handsome young waiter to bring you a glass of iced tea. (No pina coladas... we've learned our lesson for life, right? But we can make it LOOK effortless!)

Great news. You have crossed a threshold. Henceforth, I shall think of you as wasp-waisted. Or Scarlett O'Hara, whose waist was the smallest in three counties.

emoticon Mae West, anyone?
