Half- Way There!!!

Monday, July 22, 2013

We are half-way through the BLC and I am pushing through. I am also half-way to my goal weight for his challenge. I have learned a lot about my body and food going thru this challenge. I have many physical set backs and I am pushing threw it to get this weight off. I can honestly say that I have been much more consistent with my exercising since joining this challenge. I have really grown to love power walking and my body feels horrible when I don't exercise. I may not be dropping as much weight as I like too but I am losing inches. Eating vegetables and fruits, on the other hand, is where I continue to struggle. I am going to try drinking a recipe my friend at church gave me for a fruit smoothie with whey, yogurt, oatmeal and flax seed to get more fruits in my diet. As for vegetables, I'm going to try a new variety every week. I am loving the many things that I am learning and trying to incorporate into a healthy lifestyle. I am ready for the second Half!!!! emoticon

Yep, smoothies do help with the veggies. I too am NOT a lover of them and have to force myself to eat them or drink them. You can do it and you ARE worth it!!!

Hang in there, being half way is successful!!! I love smoothies, I've even had veggies that I wouldn't otherwise consume and with the whey it makes you feel fuller longer. Inches can be much better than pounds as your clothes will fit a lot better. Wishing you much success

Dawn, Smoothies are a great way tog net the fruits and veggies in when you struggle. It's amazing how many servings you can fit into a blender emoticon

I am so excited for you about your progress !!

I have tried new veggies/fruits because of the challenges I have been in along the way. I like butternut squash, but probably would have never tried it if not for a challenge. I didn't like mangos so much, but maybe I didn't have a ripe one. LOL

Great job on being half way to your goal!! You are doing it. Just those small steps make such a difference, right? Jucing is another way to get those fruits and veggies in. My kids love smoothies, too. We have some frozen fruit - most often banana that started to get brown we halved, peeled and put in the freezer, frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries. we toss that in the blender with orange juice and eat some protein with it. Great idea to keep adding new things. Keep working hard!! (I love your Hello Kitty heels!)

Dawn - That's great that you've found your fitness "go to"!! It's important that you LIKE whatever it is that you do; that way you are more likely to actually DO!

Fruits and vegetables - Trying something new every week is a great idea! Are there basic fruits and veggies that you DO like? Use those as a base - meaning you should try to eat them at least once during the week. Then add your 1 new fruit/veggie. Me? I am thrilled beyond measure that Jersey Sweet yellow corn is available finally!! I'll be having it at least once a week until it ends! I learned that for really fresh corn, you only have to boil it for 8 minutes! I have some sweet cherries in my frig I need to finish, then I'm planning on getting a baby watermelon - sweet!!

I'm glad this has been a good BLC for you! Here's to a great second Half!!
