I went in to the ER yesterday by ambulance because of chest pains. I was in the ER for about 7 hours before they admitted me to a room on the cardiac floor. It took multiple people to find two good veins - for the IV and for blood work. 12 times I got poked! OUCH!
Around 1 am, I got poked again for more blood work....and then again at 7 am.
Then the real fun began! NOT!!!
I could not eat or drink until all tests were done. I had the stress test done with the chemicals. That was HORRIBLE! Got an ECHO test and a CAT Scan. It took about 3.5 hours total with all the tests, but I had to wait until they were ready for me.
Around 2:30ish, I was wheeled back into my room. My husband and my son were waiting. They stayed for about 45 minutes. I was able to order food! The food arrived just as they were leaving. I ordered spaghetti, salad, coffee, and two chocolate chip cookies!
An hour later, my doctor entered my room saying all the tests came back normal! Thank God! My husband was able to pick me up an hour later and now I am home resting.
I have a slight headache but mostly very tired. I can resume my normal activities again. My good cholesterol is low and my bad cholesterol is high...but no meds necessary. I have to watch my salt intake too, which I have been tracking. The cardiologist could not detect my Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome, so that is strange...
I am to follow up with my primary doctor and a cardiologist within the next week or two.
I am just glad to be home!
