Watch out for falling dosages!!

Monday, July 22, 2013

Since starting low carb, I have already gotten off all my diabetes ( Metfromin, Amaryl ), and my cholesterol ( Lovastatin ) pills. I have cut my dosages of Coreg, Lisinopril, Cardura in half. My Lasix has been dropped from 120 mg a day to 80 mg, and they are hoping to drop it to 40 mg once a day if I continue to not retain fluids.

Today I visited my cardiologist who was happy with my weight loss, and the results of my echo, and stress test. My blood pressure has been steadily below 100/70, so she was worried about me feeling dizzy at times, and decided to cut my Lisinopril AGAIN. Down to 1 pill a day, 25% of what I was taking!

I am still taking a lot of pills, and far from healthy, but I am headed in the right direction, and hoping to be on as few pills as is possible. Sp, and friends, and teammates on the low carb teams, have helped me expand my carbs per day, and that has allowed me to stick to low carb, which is working out well. I am 9 pounds from my lowest weight since joining SP ( 207 ), and even healthier, as evidenced by my doctor's willingness to drop my dosages, and get me off some pills completely.

I just want to say Thank You to everyone who ever gave advice, or opinions to me. Even if I ignored it, or it didn't fit my way of eating, and wasn't useful to me, I am thankful that you stopped and took the time to notice me, and take time out of your day to think of how you could help me. That means a lot.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Wow that's amazing! Good job. It's hard to lose weight while taking pills.

That's terrific news! Your Drs must be real happy too! Low carb works but you just have to work the kinks out individually. I'm trying to work out my blood sugar which has been very high, for me, lately. (I changed insurance plans and had to change most of my meds so we're tweaking here and there yet.) I'm starting to lose weight again but can't seem to budge the blood sugar. Low carb seems to be the answer to all of this! So glad to hear you're doing so well!
