You Crave what you EAT!

This morning on my outside blog I posted an article called "Why I am a Vegan"...This is the link to it.
But for now I want to focus on something else. I was just responding to a Sparker who is just discovering that she is liking foods (fruits and veggies) that she didn't use to like. I find our appetite to be so interesting. A few weeks ago I couldn't stand the taste of Pizza--it was way too salty. Our tastes will shift according to what we feed ourselves. If all you ate was corn cobs, eventually you would like them and seek them out to eat. Dr Fuhrman puts it like this "You crave what you eat."
I had been seeing this in my own diet...however (and this is a warning flag to me) I've begun to be "loose enough" on this eating plan that I no longer find some foods (like pizza and ice cream) to be repulsive. I've eaten both of those (granted it's been in true moderation) however it doesn't take much for your taste to decide something must be good to eat, since you've eaten it once or twice.
People who have been on Fuhrman's eating plan say that things really fell into place once they switched their goal from "weight loss" to " getting really healthy" That is something I need to think more about.
Tomorrow I am making some homemade soy yogurt. My two local grocery stores have both recently decided not to sell soy yogurt anymore. So I'm forced to make my own. It's a bit of a pain to make but the taste makes up for it. Yogurt is something I've missed eating since I've been vegan. BUT lo and behold soy is vegan!! So that' s on my TO DO list for tomorrow.
Something about my diet is off kilter. I have not been losing any weight. I know I've kind of slacked off in the stringency of what I've been eating. Dr. Fuhrman knows his diet is extreme. But he says without being extreme, you will not defeat your illnesses or get to the thin weight you want to be at. I've decided to track my food. Not on the food tracker....Just in a notebook. I am not concerned about calories....I just want to see where I've deviated in my eating. I know I should be eating greater quantities of the right food. He says literally "The MORE nutrient dense foods you eat the quicker and greater your weight loss. I think that it is there that I'm having problems.
I know I'm eating too many bananas. I drink a smoothie that is mostly banana once twice or three times a day. I know I need more green veggies....a LOT more. Right now I have no kale or whole romaine or anything much in that line in the house and your diet is supposed to consist MOSTLY of that kind of stuff. I will have to just eat bagged romaine and spinach until I can get more supplies from the store.
So starting today I will track. And not only will I take note of things that are bad, I will look at what possible alternatives I have to eat. I will report back later this week on my findings.
