There's a difference now....

The family has gone home after a whirlwind weekend of fun and visiting. This morning I dreaded getting on the scales b/c I expected to be UP A LOT in weight. But no, I wasn't, which lead me to think about why not? After all, I ate Italian bread, cookies, potato chips, cake and ice cream! Well, I know why not! B/c now, eating ONE slice of Italian bread is a splurge...not 1/2 a loaf as before!!! 3 cookies is HUGE now, whereas before, I would have eaten the entire batch. A thin slice of cake with ice cream is "over the top" now, whereas before I would have eaten 2 large slices with big gobs of ice cream (and finished it off during the night!!!!). In addition, I now "temper" my meal if I know I'm going to have dessert!

And so, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO grateful to be where I am. Nope, things are not perfect and I still have to watch what I eat, fight off cravings, and continue to exercise...but oh how wonderful to be where I am in my journey instead of where I was!!! So SparkFriends...onward I go.....if it is to be, it is up to me....

    It is a great feeling to realize that even though you did eat more than you should have, it was not like the old days.

I am having the same experience, myself, today.

Last night, I gave in and had some potato chips with my husband. I was already over my calorie limit for the day - and was nervous about that scale this morning.
The scale had actually gone DOWN a little.
Why? Because I had eaten one serving of potato chips -- not the whole bag.

This is real progress!!! For you and for me!!
We are both learning new eating behaviors that will lead to our weight loss.

    Onward you go indeed! Eating only one slice or a couple cookies instead of all of them may not be the perfect diet, but what it is, is a lifestyle change! You have done that so even your "bad" days aren't as bad as they were! Good for you!
