Reflect - Regroup - Refocus

Sunday, July 21, 2013

As part of The BLC22, we've been asked to reflect on the past 6 weeks of the BLC; on what went well, and what could use some work.

I feel that I am learning more and more about nutrition, preparing combinations of healthy foods, eating healthier, and learning to be satisfied with eating less. I've become more diligent with measuring ingredients and portions. I feel I am broadening my variety of foods: frozen yogurt pops, quinoa, whole wheat flour, protein muffins, gazpacho just to name a few things. And I'm loving every bit of it!

I have a problem with nightime snacking. If I bring it in the house, even if I preportion it into smaller bags, it's still there. The best thing for me right now, is to just not have it in the house period. So what do I do instead? I am loving those yogurt pops! Fresh fruit is good, and I'm going to try popcorn Donna's way. I drink more water! Right now though, I'm also finding that if I eat enough during the day, I usually don't WANT anything else later on.

This is my 3rd BLC. My first one was fantastic! My second one was good, but I was sick during the entire time, so my results were not what I had wanted. And I've learned that THAT is perfectly OKAY. I shouldn't expect to lose 15 pounds in 12 weeks every time. That is not a realistic goal! A realistic goal is 1/2 to 1 pound every week. I've learned something else, too. As you lose weight, it starts to get a little harder to lose weight at that same level. You have to work a little harder, put more effort into your exercise, be more consistent , try new things.

I've lost 65 pounds with SP, and I have approximately 45 more pounds to lose. I've done this through hard work and determination. I've been able to do this with the help of some amazing people that I've met on SP and on my team in the BLC: The Ivory Falcons. A Spark Friend asked me how I stay motivated. I feel better. I feel different. I feel healthier. I look different. I can do more. I WANT to do more. I don't EVER want to go back to how I was before. I want to continue moving forward!

I will continue using the nutrition tracker and fitness tracker.
I will continue to explore a variety of exercises, both cardio and strength .
I will continue to support my team members.
I will continue to support my Spark Friends.
I will continue to become energized, grow stronger, break out of my ruts, do away with bad habits, and appreciate myself and the progress that I am making towards a healthier ME!

Karen, emoticon on all your new menu items !! emoticon
There's a few there I haven't tried yet. I MUST get some quinoa.

I think you are doing emoticon . You are incredibly self-motivated. You have grabbed unto your motivation with both hands and wring out every ounce of it each and every day!! And then, you still have time to talk to all your team-mates every day with an eager smile emoticon and an encouraging word. Thank you for pushing me to measure a little more carefully. You are right - I often use my eyeballs and, they are like the mirrors on your car, right? (Just not quite exactly the same as actual size... )

Whatever you need, I am right here. Let's kick these next 5 weeks in the butt !!!
