2 Workouts Today...

We made a day trip of it over to the Blue Ridge Parkway, specifically the George Washington National Forest. Did you know that Seniors can get a $10 lifetime pass to our National Parks and Federal Recreation Areas. I did not know that and we discovered that today when we went for a hike on the Loft Mountain Loop trail up in the Blue Ridge Mountains between the Charlottesville area and the Shenandoah Valley. It was gorgeous up there and ten degrees cooler than on the piedmont area where we live. We got started on our trail and unfortunately it began to cloud up seriously and rumble. So as a result we only got about a mile done before we had to turn around and we made it back to the car just in time. We enjoyed it nonetheless and will be going back soon! The campgrounds up there are half price as well so it is kind of a nice deal. The trails are the real deal though. They have spectacular views, are well maintained and the wildlife is quite tame as they are protected from hunters up there.
After that trip we got home and as I still needed a workout I got on the old treadmill and did another 2 miles and felt good doing it. I am finding that my stamina has grown and I can go faster and burn more calories in the same amount of time. So that is encouraging.
It has been a busy weekend and I have a busy day planned for tomorrow as I am spending it with my granddaughter while my daughter works and then we'll probably go for a swim in the afternoon. I hope that each of you had a great day and are on track for your healthy goals!
