First of before I begin today's blog, I want to thank my Spark Friends and Team members for their comments on yesterday's blog! Your comments were greatly appreciated!
Now, for today's blog, I had an awesome time with my running group last night at the Jill Scott concert. However, the concert started late and we ended up being out later than we thought. So, this morning, I was debating on whether or not to go on my Sunday group run with my running group. I had a margarita at dinner last night with the ladies, which had my stomach upset this morning because I really cut back on drinking alcohol since I've been back on my weight loss journey. But, I decided to get my butt out of my comfortable bed and go meet the ladies for our run. I ate a lite breakfast: a hard-boiled egg and half of a bagel thin. Then I met the ladies!
Of course, each time we get together, we determine our mileage. I told the ladies I wanted to do 5 miles because last Sunday, I really struggled to complete the 5 miles. I went out too fast on the first 2 miles: 9:30 & 10:00 minute paces. Everyone agreed with the 5 miles. Well, we started out with a very comfortable pace for me for the first 2 miles, which was around an 11:30 minute pace. Then, we got to 2.5 miles and one of the ladies said maybe it's time to turnaround because our goal was 5 miles. The other lady (Keisha) who coordinated the run looked at me and said she is doing very good, let's do 3 miles out then 3 miles back! I was like OMG!
Well, to make a long story short, we did 3 miles out and stretched. Then, we were heading back in, which meant another 3 miles. I didn't want to panic, but I was without showing any express on my face. At mile 5, my hips were starting to get tight. We stopped again for me to stretch my hips. Then, we pushed onward to complete that last mile. I couldn't believe that Keisha challenged me even further by making me push that last half mile where I wanted to stop. I accomplished 6 miles this morning with very little walking. I think I'm going to be ready for my upcoming 10K, especially if I keep running with these ladies! They are awesome and I love running with them!
So remember, sometimes with change, you have to challenge yourself! You can do it! So, get up and do it! It maybe hard, but anything worth doing or having is worth the time and effort!
