It has been a while since I have given Sparkpeople blog entry, but finally, here I am!
I have been discharged from PT, but more because my benefit is finally running out – rather than the fact that we're done with the work we need to do. Not a problem though – I have a whole list of exercises to do...and a couple of tools that I've gotten to help with my specific problems. One is a "Stick"… This is used to rub the IT band, and the muscle groups to help them let go of their tension. It is probably the most uncomfortable thing that I do, but it really does pay off!
The other thing I now have, thanks to my daughter who sent it to me for my birthday, is a Wedge! My PT had recommended that I use a wedge to get my legs up and elevated for at least an hour before I go to bed at night. That thing, I must say, is the greatest thing since peanut butter! I use it for about 25 minutes every night and it makes a huge difference in how my back, my legs, and my IT bands are feeling.
On the 17 day diet front… I am increasing my exercise now that I can… With caution of course, I don't want to blow myself out of the water yet. So far I'm doing well. Sticking pretty much to cycle one, because that seems to work best for me. I still continue to have trouble with carbohydrate consumption and haven't found the right combination of foods that I can use that don't cause problems for me so I'm staying pretty much carbohydrate free, except what I get through dark green vegetables and things of that sort.
Still have some weight to lose to get back to where I was before my legs started going out on me… That's okay – when I stick to plan the weight seems to come off fairly easily.
It's a bit of the struggle, but I do try to get up to the ranch at least once a week to ride Robin's horses. We noticed last week that one of the horses (that is a relatively new hire) is beginning to get rude with the other horses and with riders that don't know how to ride on his back, so my next task is to take him out and remind him what his job is and teaching him a little of Emily Post of the horse world. I'm looking forward to that because he really is a good horse is just taking liberties that don't belong to him.
Well so far so good on this blog... everything seems to be working really really well on voice recognition… It's even questioning me that I said the word "really" twice. It is a very good program.
Early day at work again tomorrow so I'm going to sign off for now. Now that I have my new office chair and I have a better set up in my office, and Dragon is recognizing me as well, you will be hearing from me a lot more often!
Aloha Po – (that means good night in Hawaiian).
