I have recently rediscovered a favorite treat that is healthy and simple too. You start with frozen berries (pick your favorite flavor - I love them all) put them in a small dish and pour a little milk (cream/almond milk/whatever your preference) over them and stir - the milk freezes onto the berries and it is cool, tasty and healthy. You can throw it in the blender to make a smoothie, but I like it as my berries ice treat. For a truly tasty smoothie, I use frozen berries, a frozen banana, a little bit of lemon or lime juice and blend it up - adding water if needed to get to the right texture to drink. Again, you can use milk or one of the milk substitutes for the smoothies, but these work for those who are lactose intolerant. Berries are SOOOO good for us and I like to switch things up every so often. Get creative and have fun. Even the kids love these. You can also create the smoothie and then pour into ice cube trays or ice pop forms - they are healthy, cool and yummy.
