Runner and Gymnast

Saturday, July 20, 2013

This morning I got up and ran 6 miles (well, run-walk-run) with my half marathon training group while my niece and nephew ran the 3rd of the Watermelon 5K series. They both finished, which was the point. After my run I met them for breakfast. Delicious and fun!

Yesterday was fun, too. I took the smallest granddaughter to see her big sister give a gymnastics performance. Natalie did very well. This is her fourth week of gymnastics camp, where she gets about 1.5 hours of gymnastics instruction and practice per day. In her group she was the final and featured gymnast on the high bar. Although I was hoping for a runner, I think we've got a gymnast:

Look at her fly!

Wow!! Look at her go! How very cool. She may not be a runner but she will still excel at what she does...just like Grandma! You are doing a wonderful job with the girls!

Isn't that fantastic! Whatever sport Natalie chooses, it's got to be clear to her from her grandmother's example what a joy it is to be fit and healthy!

And thanks for your comment on my "mind over mood" blog: imagine coping with stress without food!!

I agree with OKM! I remember when I was Natalie's age (and actually, all the way through high school) and sports was for the boys, never the girls. So whatever keeps her active and loving to move, that's all that matters!

Congrats on your 6 miles, I'm starting over with the Couch to 5K.

Great picture! Who cares which sport, as long as they love it and it keeps them active? Good for Natalie! Well mentored, Grandma Slenderella! emoticon
