The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Saturday, July 20, 2013

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

    I've always loved this poem and been the person who took that road less travelled. However, the price is high in many ways.

    i love this poem and i love the poem by robert frost, stopping by woods on snowy evening....professors and teachers and those they teach would debate the poem is about death, but to me, its about life, about beginning a new journey.
and maybe that is in a way a death.
leaving the past behind.
but anyway, thanks for posting, i love the works of robert frost.

    Chelsea,
I saw the title & knew we must be kindred spirits . This is on my Spark Page. I used it for my Autistic sons senior quote, dedicated it to his teachers who saw his potential & not his limitations & worked SO hard trying to help him.
The way R.F. writes in such a sing songy way flowing into each thought.We all can learn from this poems meaning. I'm glad you shared it with others who might not have had the chance to read it before.

    I just realized I've missed your last few blogs, and am so sorry...somehow I must have gotten "unsubscribed"...but situation remedied.

Yes, this is one of my favorites, too. Indeed, "that has made all the difference." I look forward to that someday discussion of ours across cups of coffee. :)

Have fun today, Chelsea!
:) Gail

    The road less traveled in our life the harder to be good and all we can be.Most take the easy way.

    I love that poem. I had to memorize it in high school. I think Freshman year - oddly enough I still have about 3/4's of it memorized.
It has always stayed in my head.
