Just so you know, getting food poisoning is not the best way to jumpstart weight loss, but I will take it. Since my episode two weeks ago, I've lost four pounds...mostly from not eating as much. My appetite has curbed quite a bit, and I still have some lingering muscle pain around my torso (that I managed to flare up when I worked out this week...naturally) as well. I had pulled my intercostal muscles around my rib cage prior to the the food poisoning, so it's still healing...anything I do seems to aggravate it.
I suspect my gut flora is all out of whack. Most everything I have eaten the last couple of weeks has made my digestive tract unhappy. (Not so unhappy that I vomit for hours on end, but IBS symptoms.) I'm already taking a probiotic (I was before the food poisoning episode as well), but not sure what else I can do to help the gut flora get back in balance. I don't usually eat yogurt (I try to eat close to vegan, and the soy yogurt is disgusting to me), but I will eat the dairy yogurt if it will help. It's worth a shot.
I want to let my stomach calm down before worrying myself or the doctor about this. Two weeks after a major food poisoning episode doesn't seem all that long for recovery, in my opinion. I'm not a doctor, but I am trying not to become alarmist either.
I will take the four-pound weight loss, however. I have finally lost the weight I gained from when I was on that unfortunate medication (Actos--never again). One thing to be happy about.
