End of First Week Back to Work

It was a good week. Not crazy busy, but a good pace. They did my annual evaluation and I got a raise. That's always nice! Everyone seems pleased that I've decided to stay instead of retiring at the end of June. I'm really happy with that decision too. I had really mixed feelings about leaving - so it's all worked out well. Plus, the extra money is also very nice! :)
The move to assisted living is coming along really well for Mom. Aug 3rd is a definite move-in date. I lined up the movers earlier this week and everyone is OK with that date. We've got 2 weeks to get all the details ironed out - and I think we're in good shape. I went over there this past Wednesday (my normal day off - I only work 4 days/week) and we moved all the stuff that were in the drawers of the 2 dressers she's planning on taking with her. Now we can start placing items she wants to take with her in the drawers. This afternoon I want to see what type linen we might need to get for her and I'll pick it up next week when I do my regular shopping. She's has really come around to the idea that she'll be better off there.
I'm still thinking of buying a Total Gym. I've not made the plunge yet, but once we get Mom moved in, I'll make a decision. I'm hoping it will help me focus when it comes to strength training. I love all the videos and exercise routines on SP, but I don't know how to put it together into a good routine. Anyway, we'll see. I'm not worried about cardio exercises - that will be walking for the most part. And I like the little bit of Yoga that I've done - so I want to continue that too on some kind of regular basis.
Exercise has never been my "thing". Every activity I enjoy, is sedentary for the most part - sewing, knitting, crafts, etc. I enjoy being home and I've been know to come home on Friday evening and not step out again until Monday when it's time to go to work! So, I think it's unrealistic of me to think that I'll be one of these people that will exercise for a couple of hours a day. I try to get in 15-20 minutes of focused exercise per day and that length of time will probably not get too much longer over the next few years. One thing I am doing is trying to be more conscious of how much "normal" walking I do. I wear a FitBit pedometer (I love that little thing), so I do try to hit some targets every day. I'll walk up and down the stair for no particular reason so that I'll reach my daily goal. So that helps too. I don't particularly mind housekeeping chores anymore - I consider a form of exercise and I get something done too!
