Week # 1

So, this was my first week at Spark people. I really love the site. There is so much to see and do here, it is a little overwhelming. I decided to concentrate on learning the basics this first week. How to track food, fitness, weight, and get all my measurements down. It was very simple to learn, so I forged ahead and learned a little about email, message boards, blogs and maneuvering around the site. In this first week I'd say just the basics is a great program. Knowing only what I did of the site I managed to lose 3 lbs.
I have since started setting some goals. The first week I was mainly concerned with getting my portions back to the proper amount by tracking and walking 5 days for 45 minutes and track that as well. I can proudly say "mission accomplished" on those! I intend to continue my 5 day/45 minute walks for 3 more weeks, then I'll step up to walk/running. I will also continue to monitor my portions and try to incorporate healthier foods into my diet plan. Of course it goes without saying that I'm continuing to track everything; food, fitness, measurements and weight.
I have some self-esteem issues. Even though I lost 3lbs. this week I still feel insecure about my appearance... I think maybe when I get to a point where I can see some results in the mirror and the way my clothes fit, that will change. For now, I am happily avoiding mirrors and getting joy simply out of my change in energy level, better sleep, and the weight I've lost... and I'm ok with that.
