The assignment is to reflect on the first 6 weeks of the Biggest Loser Challenge (BLC), what did I do well, and what could use some work. I thought a good way to start off is by recapping the goals I documented at the beginning of the BLC and reporting my status:
Lose 12 pounds in 12 weeks
Status: I have already lost 13 pounds at the 1/2 way mark. WooHoo!
Record every BLT (bite, lick, taste)
Status: I am done this every day and it really is doing the trick as far as keeping me on track and paying attention to what I eat.
Workout at least 20 minutes per day 6x/week -- this is my planned BLC streak
Status: The streak is alive and well! I have exercised a minimum of 20 minutes every day of the challenge; most days quite a bit more than the 20.
Continue Saturday walking group every week
Status: Haven't missed a week yet. I send out weekly reminders. The past few weeks we have walked on both Saturday and Sunday.
Participate in at least one official 5K this summer
Status: Completed on 4th of July, and I beat my previous time for this same event/route from last year. It was just plenty good fun too.
Get in bed by midnight 5x/week
Status: This one continues to be a struggle. I may get to bed by midnight twice a week; but falling short of my goal. However, I am getting more sleep each night than I did before the BLC started. Most nights I get at least 7 hours sleep so that's a good thing.
One of the things I am trying to work on now is to do some of my workouts in the morning. I have a bad habit of putting my workouts off until late in the day sometimes. Except for my weekend walks, I seldom exercise in the morning. This is something I will concentrate on over the next few weeks.
So, I am very happy with how the BLC is going and what I have accomplished to date. In addition to the above, I have met new Spark Friends, which is fabulous! I really really really enjoy being on the Golden Phoenix team. Since this is my first BLC, I do not really know what the other teams are like. I am sure they are nice too; but I LOVE my team and I think that is a big part of what is helping me to succeed. Our captain and co-captains are just the best, and all my teammates are also supportive and inspirational and motivational.
I'm looking forward to the 2nd half of BLC. I'll be back to report again at the end (which already makes me sad to think about it ending).
