Mid Challenge Reflection

As I pass the midpoint of BLC22, I want to look back and evaluate how I have done - what I have done well, and what I could do better. A couple of highlights of the challenge come immediately to mind. Number 1: I actually lost two pounds while on vacation for 8 days! I had thought that would be an impossibility! Never that I can recall, have I gone on a trip and come home weighing less than I did when I left. I learned that with focus, hard work, and determination, I can lose weight - even in difficult circumstances! Number 2, on the other hand, is not so positive. Last week, with a houseful of company, I lost focus for a few days and turned my back on the healthy habits I have been so carefully trying to cultivate. The result was disastrous on the scale - 4 pounds gained. From those two experiences, I have learned the importance of FOCUS and WORK! I am also realizing that I need to adopt the mindset that I DO make healthy choices - even in difficult circumstances. If I am stressed, I need to find a healthy way to handle it. If I am traveling, I need to plan to be successful. If I fall down, and slip into bad habits for a day or two, I need to look on that as an ABERRATION, not as inevitable, and get back on track ASAP! Overall, the past 6 weeks, I have done VERY WELL! I have improved my sleep habits significantly, exercised at least 6 days a week, stayed within my calorie range all but a handful of days, and stayed well hydrated. I am making healthy choices because I am WORTH it! I'm grateful for the support of sparkfriends who inspire and motivate me, and are helping me change the way I live.
