Do you know about Leg, Calf, Pertheses Disease? It's an awful affliction that attached my grandson when he was 2 1/2. It is not life threatening of that I'm so grateful however it is not without it's torment. Basically the body stops feeding the femur head and the ball connecting the hip to the thigh bone dies. Typically it regrows. Sadly for my grandson who is now 5 it did not. In fact the thigh bone moved out of position and he had to have surgery this week to move it back into place and secured with a plate and screws. I watched this little boy bounce into the waiting room of the children's hospital the morning of his surgery thinking this would something of an office call only to find out that there was so much more in store for him. The hospital took very good care of him and he has a strong support system with a mommy and daddy that love him dearly and grandparents that would do anything for him. What I'm observing is that he is having to live with a lot of pain because of the procedure, learning how to use a walker, and not using his right leg at all. He is being carried by his parents in a very tender loving way not to cause him more pain and he has proved to be a trooper! I have to stop and take note and think that I have every opportunity to stop my "disease" and I will. I'll learn from his bravery and find mine.
Wishing you all well.
