True Confession: I am a Streaker

Friday, July 19, 2013

No, not that kind of streaker . . .
however, I do have something to shout about

I first began streaking when I signed up with SparkPeople 290 days ago and I have been streaking ever since, in some form or fashion.

Not only has it been motivating while competing in a challenge, but I've also used streaking to help me develop new habits and attain goals.

Streaking the big stuff and small stuff is really important because it's stuff that I REALLY want to do but would otherwise not remember. (Maybe I"m the only one.) Seeing my good intentions listed as a goal on my "Other Goals" page helps to jog my memory.

Right now my longest streak is 151 days. It would have been longer except that I took a break for a few days and inadvertently reset everything . . . but what matters is that I kept the good habits that my earlier streak had helped me develop.

I'm on a 151 day streak of getting 8 cups of water each day, and a 146 day streak of getting 10 minutes (minimum, usually 30) of exercise a day, and a 21 week streak of consistently logging in to SparkPeople.

If you're having a hard time remembering all those good things you want to do every day, or every week, why not set it as a goal?

Meanwhile, while you're thinking about all those good things you would like to achieve and about setting some new goals, here's something that I hope will bring you a smile.

Ray Stevens "The Streak"

You too can be a streaker!

I haven't checked my streaks for a long time. I usually was pretty consistent. I seem to go lean more in the points area.

I've tried Streaking and I always seems to have trouble with consistency not only in documenting my Streaks but with documenting all of those other goal things too. I think I may just reset and get rid of everything and start over with one thing at a time. Thanks for bringing this topic to the forefront for me emoticon

Cute, good job on the streaking.
As far as making you page not so private, I think you have to go to the set up pages. That is all I can think of, right now unless we are friended, I can't comment on your feed.
BTW that was one funny song. Funnier seeing a streaker, actually a kid in the HS I taught streaked with crazy briefs on through the cafeteria. Not quite the same, but it caused an uproar, and he got into trouble.

I loved Ray Stevens as a kid. Thanks for the video!

I like the quote about changing what you daily to change your life. I brought along a resistance band on vacation to work my upper body. I NEVER did anything like that in the past!

Be sure to check your streaks. Sometimes, for some reason, Spark doesn't count all my tracks even though I have entered them.

I do try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in each day. Sometimes it's more strenuous than other days.

Yes! I am obsessive about the feeling of success I get from tracking all of my streaks here on SparkPeople! It has really helped me find motivation after a lifetime of harsh criticism. Yay!

I really got into streaking for awhile, then life happened. No internet service, out of my control, lost my crashed, out of my control, lost my streaks...had surgery and had no computer access in the hospital, lost my streaks. Then I realized how much it was stressing me out thinking that I HAD to keep these streaks going that nobody ever saw but me. I was obsessing too much over it, so I had to let it go and quit focusing on it. It was tough. Amazing how something that works so well for others is so detrimental to me.
