About the new fitness tracking coordinated with your calorie range. New link!!! Hope this link works

Friday, July 19, 2013

What do y'all think about this new tracking system?

You can try it without messing up your current account by---
starting a sparkpeople account in a NEW NAME just for the ability to test this tracking system. Keep your 'old' account just in case!

Warning! If you change to the new system in your current account--you CAN'T change back!

Also you cannot carry over any of your spark points you earned if you open a new account, at least I couldn't when I went from debrabut to nevergiveup..

I clicked on the link and read the blog. Interesting. It also says that current users can switch on or off, but then it says that's a future feature. I guess we either get stuck with it until it's a current feature or do as you said and make a "test account" for now.

I think I'm going to give it a try on a test account as it sounds interesting in the fact that you are no longer so confused about all of it. It could be a long way from my guessing.

Thanks for sharing - I didn't even get the notice, which is weird cuz I' on the "notify" list.

    Have a great one! emoticon

I'm on the fence about this. I see that we can switch back and forth now but I'm unsure whether it's worth it or not. I'm training to run a half-marathon so I have some days that I run A LOT of miles and burn tons of calories and I do have a BodyMedia Fit that I delete the info from my tracker daily so it doesn't screw up my calories burned. I have a hard time making changes emoticon

I think I will stick with what I have .. I like to adjust my own calorie range as my doctor advises .. But thanks for the info Chris .

I've started using it; but the jury is still out, so to speak. To be most effective, you have to get your heavy exercise posted early in the day. Still, I think I like having it automatically calculating your needed nutrition based on the amount of exercise you get.

I'm not sure. Because of field work, my exercise levels are really erratic in the summer.

they updated the page - you can change back and forth at will now....so give it a try if you want...you can always change it back

I really like it. Due to my knees, as the primary cause, I have been pretty much sedentary. My biggest frustration was trying to get my calorie level right. I never did, and I never lost much weight, except when I was at the pool. Now, you can say you're sedentary...it lowered my calorie range and I'm losing weight. It's also responsive to fitness points. As soon as you add exercise for a day, it gives you more calories for that day. It resets it daily based on that. I think it's a big step forward.

I haven't tried it, but the most recent update to the linked article says you may now switch back and forth between the two, so you aren't just stuck with the new one if you don't like it. I might try it, but for now, since I am doing mostly smoothies and soups due to my recent jaw surgery, I am not trying to track my "'food".

I don't think I'd like it so I'm not doing it yet
I do wonder if sometime we won't have a choice

I made the switch, and I like it just fine. I wonder how long it will be before no one has a choice, like when they changed the fitness tracker.

I am still on the fence with this one. emoticon

I switched and not overly excited by the change - I can live with it - even though I tend to ignore the idea that on SOME days I need 5,000 - 10,000 calories - that is WAY more than even my most gluttonous body can consume in one day.

I tried it with a new account and I find that there is some good and some not so good.

By doing that I lost my other account because I thought I had to delete it. :(

Well I'm still here with Spark People which I love.

Sorry, I just realised I typed and posted a rant, there.
We are all given the opportunity to comment. It would be good if folk would be honest and true.

    I changed, and I'm happy.
As with all new things, I will have to be aware and watch.

It will work for me in some ways.
And I will have to make it work, in other ways.

So - what's new? This happens over and over.
Let's just work out what we used to do with the previous counter, and what we can do with this new counter.
And maybe - do this before we bother with commenting any more.

PS - I can't find any huge problem. This is a new recording method. We have been warned that if we change we cannot undo. So, please, just read the info given. Read the comments. Make up your mind for yourself.
And stop sniping at SP for doing what they believe the majority of the membership has asked for.

was that revealing enough? I went ahead n did it on this account I really wish I hadn't. With the amount of exercise I do it expects me to take in ridiculous amounts of cals, the first day I did eat what it said too as outrageous as it was. I regretted it the next day. I had gained a few lbs so now I don't pay attention to what its telling me I know what my body needs to lose the lbs..

Don't think I will try it.

I changed it but I don't see any difference!
