a really awesomely intense workout today

I decided I needed to step up my treadmill routine a bit today. I planned to do 15 mins at my usual pace of 3.5 mph, but then decided to try 45 minutes at 4mph. And then a cool down at 3 mph for 5 mins and 2.5mph for another five.

I actually did not think I was going to be able to get through the 45 minutes at 4mph. I wanted to quit several times and was thinking to myself that I could change the time frames I had set for myself and go back to 3.5mph the rest of the time.

But instead I kept saying I'd do 5 minutes more, and when that 5 minutes was up I'd reason with myself that I could do another 5 minutes, until I did the full 45 mins. I don't know why that approach helps so much, but it really worked in meeting my goals even though I did not want to!

I'm pretty proud of myself for this, plus I burned supposedly 468 calories and drank 5 cups of water during and after the workout haha! I was sweating so much and now I feel really good!
