Lie in

Friday, July 19, 2013

Yesterday I sat outside for my lunch break to enjoy the rarely-seen Glasgow sunshine. It was so lovely I could easily have lost track of the time, so I set my alarm to go off at the end of my break. It went off, I reluctantly packed my things up and I went back to work, completely forgetting about my alarm.

Cut to 6 this morning: any second now an alarm should go off, making me flail around until my hand finally connects with the phone. But it doesn't. Because some numpty left it set at 15:34 the previous day.

Luckily for me I still have a secondary alarm set up from when I used to really struggle to get out of bed.
Unluckily for me it's set for an hour and ten minutes later than I needed to get up.
Luckily for me I somehow turned into a ninja/olympic runner without noticing and managed to get everything done and still arrived at work on time. Do not ask me how, I have absolutely no idea.

So yay for extra sleep, but I am sure as heck going to be triple checking my alarm every night for the next two weeks at least!

Wait until you get as old as me when you automatically wake up early because you have been doing it for 38 years; and then you retire and can't oversleep because of your 38-years of auto-body programming. I'm not there yet, but expect that is what will happen. Oh well, at least I will enjoy watching the early birds getting their worms.

ditto silly alarms should know better and ditto you probably needed the sleep.
seems like no matter what time I go to bed I still wake up at 6 AM. No alarm.

I know the feeling... I use 2-3 alarms, too, especially if I have something important to do. Thumbs up for being on time, despite of the late wake-up!

I'm glad it all turned out well in the end! Alarms are very important in my life to keep me on track with things, so I totally identified with setting an alarm so you didn't stay out too long at lunchtime.

ROTFL!!! I read your status update about this and thought "oh well, she got some extra sleep, that's always a great thing for our bodies", but now reading the details I realize how funny the story behind it was!
Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend emoticon
