Countdown to the Challenge - Assignment #6 (My excuses)

Friday, July 19, 2013

Oh boy am I good at these:

Excuse #1: "I have a baby under the age of (I can now say 2) for crying out loud! How am I expected to concentrate on weight loss when I am chronically sleep deprived and can't pee alone during the day?!"

Excuse buster: She consistently naps 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day. I can easily do a work out video during that time. She is now sleeping much better at night now that she is over the age of 1.

Excuse #2: "It's too hot outside to do anything. We set the record at 119 for goodness sake!"

Excuse buster: I do have AC and she does take that nap.

Excuse #3: "It's too much work to lose weight. There's no way I will be able to keep up with this once school starts up again".

Excuse buster: Has it occurred to you that you might be able to handle the stress of the school year better with healthy eating and exercise? It's also too much work to be overweight. The amount of work you have to go to just to find clothes (see my assignment 4 blog for more info on this )is worth the amount of effort it takes to lose weight.

Excuse #4: I'm not sure I'm finished having kids. I'll just gain weight again and then have to go through losing it all over again.

Excuse buster: Healthier body means healthier pregnancy. Besides, what if you decide that you are done having kids? Wouldn't you wish you wouldn't have put off losing the weight?

Those are the top ones I can think of right now, I'm sure there are more. What are your excuses for not successfully losing weight?

I CAN SO RELATE! I remember making these exact same excuses! and I LOVE the way you bust them all! Good work!! emoticon

I didn't start losing weight until after my daughter was 2 and I felt guilty to leave her or try to work out. I found that I had more energy to be a more engaged mom giving myself the 30 minutes to myself 3 times a week. And there is nap time! You're so right. Heat does crush one's desire to work out but AC is definitely a great excuse buster! emoticon

This is a great challenge! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Another way to think about the pregnancy excuse is that it is PROVEN that the better shape you are in pre pregnancy the easier it'll be to lose the baby weigh after!

GREAT JOB on busting your own myths!!! I am proud of you!
