I haven't had major success as losing weight on this site. I've been here on and off for 4 years and weight 20 lbs more than when I joined the first time in 2009. The most weight I have lost during my many, many, MANY attempts is 11 pounds.
However, since joining the site, I have naturally been more calorie conscious.
Ways that I have cut calories:
+Drink water instead of soda when going out to eat.
+ Keep packets of crystal lite peach tea mix for water bottles at work. This will keep me from getting a soda out of the vending machine.
+ As soon as a restaurant meal arrives, cut and portion half of it and put it on a separate plate. Then, ask the waiter to throw it away the next time they come by. I have found that when I box it up at the beginning of the meal, I dig into it when my plate is empty. Plus, I'd rather not even take the high calorie food home for temptation. It's easier just to toss it and get over the waste factor.
+ Measure and weigh portions with a food scale.
