My second favorite food place in the world is The Pantry. I go there once a month and immediately head to their 'foreign' shelf. On the shelf are items from all over the world most of which I have never heard of and only 2-3 of each! Last month I got and wrote about Khaakhara. This month I picked up a bag of Rainbow Quinoa.

I cooked it all up last night and it is delicious. It is a lot like rice but with a 'bite' to it. I can see adding chicken and/or vegetables or use it wherever you would use rice. (I had about 2 bowls just as it is and it was good!)

I did a little research on it and immediately saw it was high in protein and fiber which added to its attraction. It is native to Bolivia and comes in white, red and black. Here are some recipes

And here is more about Quinoa--if you ever see it in a store buy some--very easy to make and as I said like rice but with a crunch! I have been experimenting every night with a small bowl of Quinoa and horseradish sauce or fresh vegetables or chicken--might even try it with chocolate!!

Can't wait to go back there and see what I discover from what country next!

    It's very good. Makes a wonderful breakfast, either hot or cold (prepared earlier), especially when paired with fruit and nuts.

    Quinoa is yummy. I've had it with red pepper and chicken, and tonight I made it with some zucchini.
