The Spoon Theory

Thursday, July 18, 2013

This is powerful.
Today I was aske "What do you tell people when MG is getting the worst of you?"
I replied "disoriented & Goofy Day ahead"
Then this story was shared.
You have one of my spoons.

People including nurses at the hospital I frequent often always tell me "but you look so healthy. You can't be sick"

I certainly don't face the physical challenges you do, Debs, but as I'm now trying to struggle back from 3 days of being flat on my back & sleeping the whole time, I understand what this feels like. There is so much I should be doing, & anything at all feels like climbing Mt. Everest on my hands & knees. We have to learn what we can & can't do, & make sure we keep within our limits.

That being said, my stomach is rebelling again, so I'm going back to bed.

    good analogy
I often use a checkbook to describe illness with the illness taking dollars away that make it more easily to be overdrawn with the penalties that brings.

It's a wonderful link. I've known a few people who judge how much a seriously ill person should do. I'll tell the spoon story a lot. Thanks for sharing!

This is a great article and website. I may print out and take it to our MG support meeting next week.
