Since My Computer crashed I cannot access any of my Pictures of Sparky. But I did figure out how to download some Generic Pictures on the Library Computer.
This looks a lot like Sparky does now. He is about 6 inches in diameter and has DEFINITELY outgrown his 10 Gallon Aquarium. Thanks to A LOT of Gold Presidential Dollars and Regular Quarters that I have saved over the past several years, I was able yesterday to go to the Bank and get enough Green Paper Money to go shopping for a new Home for Sparky.
This tank looks very similar to the 40 Gallon tank that I purchased, except that mine has a flat black net over the top, not the domed one shown in the Photo. The biggest difference (as far as I can tell) in a 'Regular' Aquarium and a "Turtle Tank" is the placement of the filter. Notice that the Filter fits through a hole in the end of the tank instead of hanging over the top edge of the Tank. This way the water can be kept lower than in a Typical Fish Aquarium.
It is Very Important that Turtles are able to get out of the water and "Bask" under a heat source. In Nature they find Rocks, Logs, Debris and sometimes other Turtles.
In his new tank, Sparky will have a Deluxe Basking Platform that my Son found on Amazon. In addition to giving him a place to Bask, it frees up space in the water for Swimming!
Unfortunately it won't be here for several days, and I don't want to put his old Dock in the new tank so we will probably Not get him in his new home until the New Dock arrives.
It is hard to believe how much he has grown in just 3 Short Years!
That is almost identical to a picture of Sparky shortly after I found him. Now he barely fits in my hand with my fingers spread as wide as I can!
I am not sure how you would Track it, but I know I will be taking a LOT of Steps and Burning Calories Galore cleaning around his new home and getting the New Tank set up for him.
He Just Better Appreciate it, LOL!!
More basking Turtles!!
