a turn for the better

Thursday, July 18, 2013

I finally gave up trying to handle Fibromyalgia on my own and resorted to getting a prescription to help with the pain, fatigue, and depression it causes.

What a difference! I feel better already and the constant pain in my legs and glutes is gone. The sun looks a little brighter, I'm beginning to feel the depression lift, and I'm not as tired as I have been.

Maybe sometimes medicines are a good thing, but I am watching closely for any side effects. I hope I don't have trouble with this one because it feels so good to feel good again after so many months of feeling lousy.

My neighbor and I are going to start going to the gym together. I'm really glad about that. It will be fun to have someone with whom I can work out. I look forward to getting to know her better and to inviting them to dinner some night soon. emoticon

I'm glad your pain level has gone down. It will help with the working out, which may cause a decrease later in the use of the medication emoticon

Medication need not be the enemy. If we have a medical condition, we need to tend to it however it unfolds. I have lupus which means the doctor wants to keep the inflammation under control. I have accepted the fact that there are some medications I will be on for the rest of my life. If this prevents another lupus flare, then it is worth it. Of course, I have no side effects either. Hope your new medications continues to benefit you. emoticon

Fibromyalgia has so many issues around it. Gentle exercise does help with it but it needs to be gentle; I find that vigorous exercise only acerbates the problems. But getting the right med can make the difference between existing and having a life. I'm happy for you that you've found something that works for you. It took me years to get the right balance of meds to make my life easier to bear.

Good luck!

it is hard to accept that meds may be the only way but if they help, then it's worth it! I hope you don't find any side-effects after you've been using it for a while. how awesome for you to have a little 'freedom' from the worst symptoms! Enjoy your workouts and your new friendship.
