It took hours to get ready for our (Hubby's and mine) joint effort to do the class for the County Conservation Office on coal mining. Though there were a few glitches -- not the video I wanted to show; the video they had losing the audio and unable to que the portions in we wanted; and the heat!-- we decided it was worth it to have all five grandchildren learn about Pappy's work as a coal miner. Laura like the story about the rat taking Pappy's cookie out of his hand; Beth picked up on the sadness of the miners loss; Brad was interested in my auto harp; and the nine-year-olds were just tired and hot, I think.
In counting our blessings, we are happy that God spared my husband's life on various occasions in the mines. We are glad those days are gone but also pleased that the rich memories of what DH went through was not only shared by our family, but other families that were present.
Being tired today and needing to rest is giving me time to soak in the after thoughts of what was accomplished yesterday. Looking forward to getting away some time in August. DH says he needs a break.
Family reunion on Sunday. Planning to yard sale on Saturday. Fuzzy the dog and I are both suppose to get a haircut tomorrow. I am sure mine will go much smoother than his. He has some matted hair in his thick curly coat and I have thinning, fine hair. Oh, well, would rather be me than a dog.
Happy Thursday, Friday, Saturday to All!
