The Forgotten Actor

Thursday, July 18, 2013

The director FORGOT to call me. Yes, you read that right. Forgot. In other words, he called everyone else in the entire cast to tell them he wanted them in his show EXCEPT for little old me. As you read on my blog yesterday, I was prepared and ready for more time to myself, but then I got a call from the producer last night wondering where I was.

Me: “I’m sorry? I was not cast, I never received a call.”
Producer: “What?! He never called you?!”
Me: “Never called. Are you sure you have the right person?”
Producer: “Jesus H Christ! He forgot to call you! Oh Brittney, I’m so sorry! He insisted on doing everything himself! Do you still want the part?”
Me: “Yes, I do. But do you mind asking him if it’s ME he wants?”
*Commotion. Producer yelling at director in background.*
Director: “Brittney? Are you coming? I called you!”
Me: “No, you didn’t. I never got a call or a voicemail, I stared at my phone the whole night.”
Director: “Can you still make it? We’ll be reading Act 2 by the time you get here.”
Me: “No, I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it tonight.”
Director: “Okay, I’ll see you Saturday then!”
*More commotion. Phone hangs up.*

I swear you can’t make this stuff up. So, yes, I am now in a production of Little Shop of Horrors, playing one of the trio ladies. I’m excited, but I’m also a bit weary. The show has not started off on a good foot for me and I haven’t even STARTED yet. I’m trying to look at everything very positively though, and see this as a special challenge for me. Everything is for a reason, and I know God is testing me to see if I can remain true to myself throughout difficult circumstances.

Show runs from September 13 – October 19, 2013 and rehearsals start for me on Monday.

Show #27, here I come!

Romans 8: 7 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

Helen Keller could see that the director was using manipulation on you,, hmmm, anger to incite at audition, dare her to tell producer it was my fault,, then act like nothing happened and let her sink her own ship ..

How many rocks are left on this planet for these skanks to hide under and appear???

You go to the next reading, screw him and his bigoted rear-end!!! everything happens for a reason: strut it into that reading and have F*U*N*!!!!!!!!!!
