I had my weekly "weigh in" yesterday and I'm up another .6 lb. I know that's not a big deal, however, it is a "trend" of the last couple of weeks. In the last 4 weeks, I have gained 2.2 lbs. Again, no need to panic, but there is cause for concern. I'm at my goal weight, so I'm good with my 3% challenge, but I now have wiggled out of my "wiggle room".
I know a lot of "maintainers" get the mindset - "hey I got this" and "now that I'm maintaining, I can eat X or I don't have to exercise today (or this week)".
This complacency is what caused me to let 10+ lbs. creep back on and had to work to loose again at the beginning of the year (kind of the trend I'm experiencing now).
I mentioned on Monday that I joined 2 challenges and that should keep things a little more on track! I'm still good with the 3% maintenance challenge.
The eating part of DH's work's healthy living challenge is easy - you get daily points for drinking water, eating a healthy breakfast, 5+ servings of freggies & 5 oz. of lean protein. This is my normal. However, they should take points away for eating large portions and mindless snacking (still my challenges).
The exercise part is still a problem - 30 mins. of exercise a day! Really, you can't do this?! Again - time & motivation.
I started out strong on Monday. DH and I ran at the greenway. It was very hot & humid (and a week since I did any running), so I struggled with 2 miles of running. We stopped by Publix to pick up some veggies to grill (of course since we were all hot & sweaty, we saw a bunch of people we know). DH started to grill and DD#1 & I cut some grass (she's enjoying using the riding lawnmower). By the time we ate dinner, it was late, so no mindless snacking on Monday.
Tuesday after work I went to the "aquatic center" that one of our city parks has with my sister, great nephew (GN), DD#2, DD#3 & friend. The center has a really nice "splash park" & water slide. It's kind of small, but if you go late in the 2nd Session, it's not so crowded. Since GN is only 9 months old, we knew he wouldn't be able to stay long. We were there 1 1/2 hours (until they closed) and I'm not sure how much exercise I got, but I did ride the water slide 5 times (stairs) and "swam" in the lazy river quite a bit. It was almost 7 when we were leaving, so we stopped by Chickfilet (I got a salad). We fed GN and met my niece at the "half way" point, which happens to be another park. Since she wasn't there yet, we walked with GN - so I'm sure I got in at least 30 mins. of exercise on Tuesday. It was after 9:30 when we got home, so no mindless snacking!
So the first 2 days of the challenge were pretty good. I had good intentions yesterday. DD#3 and I were going to hike the mountain trail. We were going to wait a little later in the evening to go, so we were able to eat dinner early (stir fry).
Severe evening thunderstorms started popping up and our area got a "big one". It stormed starting about 6:30 and it was still storming when I went to bed. So much for the hike! Since I couldn't do anything outside, I though I would do my workout DVD. Long story short - I got about 15 mins. of exercise, but 45 mins. of effort! I spent about 30 mins. trying to figure out how to set back up the Wii and ended up not being able to do the Coach Nicole DVD and tried to do a Wii workout (never used the Wii before). We didn't have the bench thingie and every exercise but a few called for this - it was frustrating and kind of dumb, so I quit after about 15 mins.!
Since I ate early and it was still fairly early in the evening (8 pm), I did some snacking last night!
So, I am a little concerned about the gain. I'm letting my bad habits overcome my good ones!
DH & I are driving to Florida tomorrow early am. after dropping DD#2 off at the High School to ride with the volleyball team to camp/tournament (also in Florida). DD#1 & #3 are staying home alone! DD#1 is 17 and DD#3 is almost 13, so they're pretty responsible, plus my parents live on the same property with us, so my Dad is on the "look-out".
So tonight I have to get everyone ready and go to the store to get food for DD#1 & 3 and anything we might need for the trip. I'm determined to get in my 30 mins. today! I'm also going to pick up some stuff to take with us to Florida to have on hand (bottled water & some healthy snacks).
We'll be mostly visiting with DH's family. It was supposed to be a pleasant trip visiting with DH's niece who has 8 month old twins (boy & girl) that we haven't seen since February. We were also going to stop by and see his Dad (who doesn't really have a good relationship with any of his 5 kids - although the 3 boys try). We just found out on Monday, that his Dad has Stage 4 cancer. We were planning on visiting him anyway, but now DH is kind of upset. It will still be a nice visit since we'll see the babies and DH's brother & sister in law from San Francisco. DD#3 just returned from a visit with them and we don't get to see them often, so that will be nice. We'll also get to see some of DD#2's volleyball tournament.
It will be a lot of driving and a lot of sitting around, but the hotel we're staying at has a workout center and a pool, so both DH and I will be determined to get in our 30 mins.!
So, I'll have plenty of challenges the next couple of days (we'll be back Sunday night), but I'm prepared to accept them and stop this gain in it's track!
I need to get back my "wiggle room"!
